Create an exportable error log and continue sync
I am trying to migrate a lot of data from several users into OneDrive and am aware of thousands of files that cannot be uploaded due to OneDrive restrictions; I would like to be able to export a file to send to the users so they can modify the files in a way that does not result in an error. Also, it would be nice if OneDrive would simply skip (and log) files that have too long a file- or pathname and continue syncing. This would allow for as much data to be transferred as possible on short notice, allowing the users to continue working while we can resolve errors in the background and complete the migration over time.
The current situation is that for many Office 365 tenants OneDrive is a cost-effective alternative to any other Cloud storage service but is not really a viable option because there is no way to migrate properly.
To take my suggestion one step further, I would suggest that a tool be created which copies files from Folder A to Folder B while checking for and logging files that will not be able to upload into OneDrive, this way a migration can be properly tested and prepared before execution.
I did find a tool that "helps" migration by simply replacing characters that are not allowed and automatically cutting off filenames to make them fit. This only results in a lot of files no user can recognise, rendering them effectively useless.
There's a temporary problem with the service. Please try again. If you continue to get this message, try again later.
