I can't believe that this isn't done by now. You've already got the wrapper around your networking that can redirect to a proxy, all you need to do is add a dialogue box asking for a username and password and send that out with your next connection. It's probably easier to implement this for everyone compared to convincing even one company to change their proxy as a work-around. With the number of people asking for this, compared to the effort to ask the user for name & password, what's the holdup?
