   Quite a long time for thinking about it ;-)
   I would say, non Active Directory integrating proxies (Squid et al.) are are not widely spread in USA, so there is no need for Microsoft to support them.
   Btw: same problem with One Drive and One Drive for Business.

   What kind of business software is it, that does not support proxies with authentication? This is an absolute NO GO!
