We’re thinking about this for our future planning but don’t have specifics to share yet.

Hi, can you tell us more about what you mean by advanced search? Thank you.

Being to search on a subfolder, and to restrict results to file names rather than file contents is a big start. Microsoft is pushing OneDrive as a place to store research files, which can number in the millions. The search and filter functions are completely inadequate to replace file-system storage

I have had the same advice. Plus I cannot mix and match my Office 365 plan with additional Business Plan for storage. AND even if I migrated to a business account it would be on the basis of multiple 1TB accounts. That would mean managing 5+ personal accounts (on top of my work accounts) on EVERY device. A nightmare. It looks like Dropbox et al have a much more flexible system

Same issue in Australia. My account has country and timezone set correctly but OneDrive displays in mm/dd/yyyy settings and the timestamps on files are all about 17 hours out. It's very hard to work through when things changed, if everything that you did 10 minutes ago shows up as yesterday.

Not all file formats allow for attachment of metadata, notably very common simple files

I deleted a high level folder with many thousands of files. I am going to be scrolling until the end of the century before I can find the ones I need to undelete. I can't just restore all items as that would overwrite another set of folders with highly dynamic content. I can't even sort by "Date Deleted"
I also note that despite my region settings all being DD-MM-YYYY, the recycle bin has US date format MM-DD-YYYY.
How is this different from me being able to search my Gmail recycle bin? Other than none of the above being broken?
