We looked at increasing the file upload limit via the browser to OneDrive.com. The reason we chose 1000 was because we wanted a number that worked well in most browsers.
I’d recommend if you are uploading thousands of files, it is easier to do it via the desktop sync client.
Will leave this open but likely won’t get to it for a while as it is dependent on browser tech.

While we don’t have an update here for adding metadata tags to files, we are continuing to explore this as part of the future roadmap. We recently announced the ability to edit existing metadata from within Teams and will continue to invest in metadata scenarios.

Add "adding tag" feature to multiple files at once (in browser). Presently selecting more than one files removes everytihnkg useful from the info pane.
I cant search by filetypes whats a shame
