Please consider a simpler, more scalable architecture that is designed for good end user experience even on lower-speed lines. The user should not even see all these "contacting server" prompts even after they choose to save a file to the local drive in Powerpoint or Excel. If the user selects their local onedrive folder, it should behave as if it were a save to any other folder on the disk Even on an SSD, on lower-speed connections a file save takes several minutes while Onedrive "thinks."
