    @Debanjan Ray: This is just a list of workarounds, not a solution.

    I tried to solve this by creating a junction with mklink to make a folder upload to OneDrive, which is physically located on another disk. It works, but this may lead to a negative amount of disk space available in the dialog where you select the folders to be synced. And when this happens, you cannot press OK to confirm the changes.
