Yes, I would like that too.
OneDrive local storage is not secure!
Anyone having access to your PC, also has access to your local OneDrive files...

This is strange, as OneDrive Online does have password protection.
Newly introduced Personal Vault is an additional layer of protection.

But if your PC needs to be serviced, or your laptop is stolen, then all your OneDrive files can be viewed/copied, whatever.

Microsoft should really add at least an option to have the local OneDrive folder password protected. Sync only to take place once OneDrive becomes available (after entering pw).

I think there are many similar requests.

    A quick search...

Vainly searched for comments from Microsoft - probably the idea isn't even considered, even though it is a major security issue, from my point of view.

Interesting idea. I have not tested it yet though.

Let's say the below is set up on your desktop PC.
You are saving data on OneDrive, e.g. X:\OneDrive\Data\XLS (where X: is the encrypted driveletter).

How will this sync with OneDrive on laptop?
Maybe laptop only syncs when OneDrive on desktop PC is unlocked?

    +1
Sending a code by mail is part of 2FA and maybe... even less secure(?)

If someone indeed got as far as having figured out your 2nd email address (i.e. the one used to send the code to) it will then be easy to enter the Personal Vault.

This usually is not the case when using a PIN.
The PIN is known to the actual/real user/owner only, not to someone who figured out the 2nd mail address.

That aside, I guess using a PIN code maybe is somewhat less hassle.

Last week we announced a new feature called Personal Vault that will be available soon for OneDrive consumer accounts. See this blog post for more details.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/blog/2019/06/25/onedrive-personal-vault-added-security-onedrive-additional-storage/

We have no plans to bring Personal Vault to our Commercial customers at this time, but continue to make investments in advanced security features that are unique to the Commercial service.

For me, this is by far the most wanted OneDrive feature.
We have to resort to 3rd party software to achieve this.
