Home users of oneDrive need to be prompted to exclude some files before the auto-protect starts, especially for people with multiple computers. Links on the desktop with different pathways on different computers will corrupt each other. Gaming profiles of different computers (in Documents) that have different preferences related to the different monitors and video cards will also be corrupted

In short, it may be a very bad idea to send a pop-up to home users encouraging then to protect these folders without warning them of all the bad side effects that can happen if multiple computers start syncing files with the same names but vastly different information. Just listing one as a copy, does not tell the user where the copy (in the cloud) came from when they discover that all user preferences have been changed or corrupted by the syncing process.

Sometimes users are better served by being asked to choose which folders get protected and which to exclude. As backing up to the cloud is NOT ALWAYS a good way to protect files and folders.

I tried to remap my oneDrive to get it off my small C: drive and on to another partion (G:). However, when I used the Microsoft directions for moving oneDrive, it erased over 900+ files from the cloud and then asked me if I wanted these files permanently deleted or restored. Neither option was the undo that I needed, as now I have oneDrive on both places and no idea how to fix this, Files are still missing.
