We don’t have a timeline yet but it’s still on our radar.
This would really be helpful for eningeers working with large data sets. Particularly as there is no hybrid storage model.

We announced differential sync at the SharePoint Conference in May. We’ve already rolled it out to our OneDrive personal users and plan to roll it out to the rest of our users by end of this year. See this blog post for more details: https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/Microsoft-OneDrive-Blog/OneDrive-announcements-SharePoint-Conference-2019/ba-p/616047.
I'd really like to see this implemented. Would really help when working with large CAD files.
Thank you for the suggestion, we’re actively looking at this one. No timelines to share yet.
I highly agree with this feature. I really hope this gets implemented. Shouldn't be hard to do.
I agree with all the comments below. A local OneDrive Cache would be a huge win and would convince our organization to move. (well that and global file locking)
We’re looking at two related pieces of this:
1) For OneDrive for Business, enable shared folders to be added to the root of the OneDrive folder at all (like in OneDrive Personal).
2) For OneDrive across business and personal, enable shared folders to be placed into subfolders.
We appreciate your patience; this is significant engineering work given the architecture of the products and our diverse customer base, spanning individuals to small businesses to multi-national enterprises to government agencies. We aim to address this while maintaining our industry-leading security, privacy, and compliance commitments.
Thank you for the continued feedback.
